Des Train AI
Finally, an AI consultant easy and fast to start with

A senior AI expert on your side, whenever it matters.

An AI decision you can't call, a strategy you need to get right, a project that's stuck, a build with no one to do it: when it can't wait for a new hire or a big consulting contract, you bring in your AI consultant. That's Jonas, working with you directly, no bench and no handoff. We help you decide what's worth doing, then do it, at a price that fits your business, not an enterprise's.

Never face an AI decision on your own.

You need senior AI expertise now, and there's no one to call.

If you’re honest, day to day it probably looks like this:

  • You have to set an AI direction for the business, with no one senior to think it through with.
  • A board or leadership meeting is coming up and you need a credible, honest read on AI.
  • A project stalled, and no one in-house can get it unstuck.
  • A vendor or a tool is on the table and you want a straight second opinion.
  • You know what you want built, and have no one senior who can actually build it.
  • You need the capability, but can't justify a full-time hire or a big-firm retainer.

You don’t need to arrive with a fully-formed brief. Half the value is a senior read on what’s actually worth doing, before you spend on doing it, whether that ends in a plan, a second opinion, or a build.

The senior hand is Jonas Pomoell: shipping software since 2008, he works out where AI helps and builds it himself, the same person from the first call to the finished work. More about Jonas.

And you don’t have to take on a full-time hire or a big-firm contract to get that. A fractional AI consultant is the third way: senior help scoped to the job, large or small, without the salary or the enterprise invoice. We are not after a year-long engagement to keep ourselves billable, the way a big consultancy is. We take the work where we can create value, big jobs and small, and we would rather help more businesses than bury ourselves in one.

Whatever brought you here, the fix is the same: a senior hand to tell you what's worth doing, and then to help you do it.

A business director and senior consultant who has run his own product business, shipped full-stack software since 2008, and led delivery across teams of 70-plus. He builds with AI every day, over 100 billion tokens of development and counting.

Cost of the status quo

A hire is months away and a big consultancy quotes like one, so the decision waits, the project sits stuck, and the opportunity slips, while the businesses that got senior help early are already acting on it.

How it works

Three steps, as far as you want to go.

01

Tell us what you're facing

A decision, a strategy question, a stalled project, or just 'where do we start'. In a short, senior-led session we work out what's actually worth doing, and just as honestly, what to skip. You get a straight answer, not a wishlist.

02

Get the plan, or the proof

Depending on what you need, that's a costed plan your board can sign off, with the where, the why and the numbers, or a working prototype running on your own data that proves the idea before you commit.

03

Take it further, or leave it there

Advice and a plan, a build we deliver, building alongside your team, or coaching your people to carry it. Senior throughout, big jobs or small, with no handoff to a junior bench.

Outcomes

What you walk away with

A clear, senior read on where AI helps your business, and where it doesn't.

A direction or a costed plan you can act on, board-ready when you need it.

Working systems running on your own data, when a build is the answer.

One senior person who owns it end to end, not a rotating team of juniors.

A cost that fits an SMB budget, agreed before we start.

Proof

Growth-stage SMB

A small, international company was spending a serious share of its revenue on online marketing, with nobody to run it. No in-house marketer, no agency, and no one with the skills to manage Google and Meta Ads properly. The money went out; the expertise to make it work did not.

Operations

Every operational ticket began with the same tax: a person checking one system after another before the real work could start. Was it already handled, was a related case open, was the requester authorised, was the ticket even complete. Those answers lived across separate internal and external tools, gathered by hand every single time.

FAQ
How fast can you start?

Right away. The calendar is open, so you pick a time that suits and book it, no back-and-forth about slots. The first call is thirty minutes on your situation and where AI would earn its keep. From there we can usually start within days, not months, because you work directly with the person doing the work.

What if I only need a little help, or just a second opinion?

That's fine, and often the smartest first step. We scope to the job: a short advisory session, a focused build, or something ongoing. You commit to as much as you need, no more.

Can you help with strategy, not just building?

Yes. Where AI fits, what to tell your board, a management view, an honest report, a roadmap. Plenty of engagements never touch code, and that's a fine outcome, not a lost sale.

Isn't a senior AI expert expensive?

Not the way we work. You get senior time on demand, scoped to the job, without the overhead, bench and margin of a large consultancy. You pay for the outcome, not the letterhead.

How is this different from a big consultancy?

The person who scopes your work is the person who builds and runs it. No account managers, no anonymous delivery team, no enterprise price tag. Boutique by design. And when an assignment needs more hands or a specialist skill, we extend it through trusted partners we already work with, so scale is never the reason to look elsewhere.

Do you actually build things, or only advise?

Both, and sometimes the right answer is advice or a plan alone. Some engagements are a strategy session; others a full build. We do what the job needs, and tell you which it is.

What does it cost?

It depends on the assignment, and we keep it flexible. When the scope is clear we agree a fixed price up front, for advice as well as builds, so there are no surprises. When it is more open-ended we bill by the hour, with a one-day minimum. We take part-time and full-time work, and often prefer part-time: it lets us help more businesses and stay on top of a fast-moving field. And when you need us full-time to crunch something, we are there.

Is our data safe?

Yes. We work inside your own environment and existing permissions wherever we can, so your data and systems stay in your control while we do the work.

What if AI turns out not to be worth it here?

Then we tell you plainly, and you've saved the spend. A straight answer on where AI does not help is part of the value, not a failure.

Talk it through, no deck required.
